I actually tried that, raised the neck pup but its apparent that tone, to me at least, lies in his neck pup, and 7/32" is actually so far down that my neck pup is literally on the last thread of the adjusting screws, that's what's most important to me, in fact i was originally only going to buy the neck pup and had other ideas for which bridge ... The string height at the nut is kept very low about 1/64″ above the first fret The low nut height makes for easier playing and helps the guitar play in tune by lessening the distance the string must stretch to get to the fret. Slash s longtime tech Adam Day pays special attention to keep the nut slots polished and lubed with Tri-Flow. Bridge height is whatever it needs to be to get the strings sitting low over the frets like you want them to be. As you fret the neck not the body, it becomes somewhat irrelevant what height the bridge is set to. And of course the neck angle (a minor variable) as well as the fret size and fretboard thickness (also variables across the range ...

That is weird that you say the SD Slash APH2 pickups are really hot, because I have them in my Slash AFD and they sound great. Very smooth with just the right amount of bite to get that great 70's/80's tone from a Les Paul. I know that Slash's 59 Copy had the SD Alnico II's in it and when Gibson made the Slash Signature guitars, they did not sound like his 59 Copy. Slash's 1987 Les Paul is set up as follows.....Tailpiece height 1/4".....the neck is very straight! Nut height is 1/64" (.015") over the first fret. Action at the 12th fret 1/16" for both low and high e strings. Pickup height is 7/32" from the strings on the neck pickup and 4/32" from the bridge pickup. He uses .011" - .049" string gauge. Hmmm, I really don't think the Slash Pickups are much different than the 57 Classic Pups, they have a lot of similarities. Adjust the pickup height to find the best tone from the Slash Pups. Granted I think yours came with the Gibson Custom Bucker Slash Pickups, which are close to the Slash SD's, but of course not the Slash SD's.

I've been trying to sleuth around, but I keep coming up empty. What do they ...
