I think the musician on tour angle makes the most sense as he was super talented. Also I think the revival should focus more on Malcolm and his new family of wife and kids with only supporting roles from the old cast. This will make it easier for Justin Berfield & Christopher Masterson as they have decided on more non-acting roles in their career.
